Todd Frazier Reportedly Going to the Yankees

The Yankees are reportedly closing in on deal to acquire Chicago White Sox third baseman, Todd Frazier

According to a tweet from Ken Rosenthal, the Yankees are close to acquiring Todd Frazier from the White Sox.  There have been multiple rumors over the last week or so about Todd Frazier possibly coming to Boston.

A few days ago, Ken Rosenthal even said that Frazier to Boston “seems almost inevitable”.  Well, I guess it isn’t inevitable anymore because it looks like the Yankees are getting him.

Another name that was rumored about coming to Boston was Frazier’s teammate, David Robertson.  Robertson is a reliever that the Sox could use, but is also reportedly being traded to the Yankees along with Frazier, per Ken Rosenthal.

The Sox could have used both of these guys, but it doesn’t look like they are going to get them.  So, what now for the Sox?  Who do they look to get as the deadline approaches?

The Red Sox are reportedly interested in Jed Lowrie , according to ESPN MLB Insider, Jon Heyman.  Lowrie was with the Red Sox for four seasons before he got traded.  I like this rumor.  I like Lowrie and would take him if the Sox could get him. Lowrie has 10 home runs on the season and has a .785 OPS.  He could add some power to the Sox lineup, which is something they are in desperate need of.

Lowrie also could help the Sox out at not only third base, but shortstop, as well.  Xander Bogaerts is going to need some rest this second half and Lowrie could be the guy that could help the Sox in that situation.

Another guy that the Sox should target, in my opinion, is Washington Nationals reliever, Pat Neshek.  Neshek is having a heck of a season with an ERA of 1.21 and 40 strikeouts. He would just be a rental for the Sox, but could still make an impact in the bullpen.

With Frazier and Robertson now off the market (most likely), the Sox need to find another third baseman and another reliever to go after.  In my opinion, they need to go after Lowrie and Neshek.  Those two guys could help the Sox a lot through the second half and can help them become contenders for a championship this season.  Let’s see what happens.
