Dombrowski Has to Make a Move By Tomorrow

The trade deadline is tomorrow at 4 PM ET and Dave Dombrowski has to make a move by then

The game today was awful.  I can’t really say anything else.  We were up 3-1 in the top of the 8th and we blew it.  If today doesn’t show Dombrowski that he has to make a move by tomorrow, I don’t know what will.

In my previous post, I argued that we need a power bat.  I do believe that is still true, but today, what costed us the game was the relief pitching.  It was awful.

In today’s game, we were actually hitting the ball pretty well.  That hasn’t been the case for the Sox recently though.  Today was different.  We needed our bullpen to come through late in the game.  That didn’t work.

In the 8th inning, we were up 3-1.  I thought we had the game in the bag.  I was wrong.. The Sox gave up 4 runs to give the Royals a 5-3 lead.  The Sox had a chance in the 9th to take the lead, but we fell short.   This loss just goes to show that we need an 8th inning guy that we can have confidence in.  Joe Kelly can’t pitch every game, so we need another guy.  Plus, Kelly is hurt.  There are plenty of guys out there that we can get, Dombrowski just needs to make a move.

If Dombrowski doesn’t make a move by tomorrow’s deadline, I will be furious.  If he wants his team to be successful in the postseason, he has to make a move.  He needs to get a reliever and a bat.  If anything, just get one of those, preferably a reliever.  I know, I know.  I said we needed a bat in my previous post.  Today’s game changed my mind.  We have to have a solid reliever that we can count on.  The Sox can’t be successful if they don’t have one.

Dombrowski has to make a move.  If he is smart, he will.  If he doesn’t though, he can kiss this season goodbye.  In order for us to be a championship contender, he needs to make a move.  He has under 24 hours to make one, so he better get moving.
