Rafael Devers is Proving Himself

Rafael Devers had a 4-hit game in game last night, proving himself as a big league hitter

Last night’s game was the best the team has played in forever.  Doug Fister was incredible.  Rafael Devers was great.  If that is the team that shows up the rest of the season, I like their chances in the playoffs.

Doug Fister had an incredible pitching performance, as he picked up his first win in last night’s game against the Cleveland Indians.  Fister went 7.2 innings last night only to give up 2 runs, both of which came in the 7th inning.  Last night was easily Fister’s best start with the Sox.  He was backed by the Red Sox offense, which is something that they haven’t done for their pitchers often.  Most of Red Sox Nation was ready to get rid of Fister, but I think last night changed a lot of people’s mind.

Rafael Devers had a night no one will forget.  He had 4 hits in 4 at bats with a double. Devers is the first Red Sox player that is 20 or younger to have 4 hits in a game since Tony Conigliaro in 1965.  I am pretty sure we just found the solution at third base.  If he can keep this up, we will be in good shape.  He is proving to a lot of people he can play in the big leagues and perform at a high-level.  He is surprising me, honestly.  This is exactly what we needed.

Let’s not forget about Mookie Betts.  He collected 2 hits driving in half of the Red Sox runs.  He has kind of been in a little bit of a slump lately so it was nice to see him hitting well.

The Red Sox play Game 2 of their three-game series with the Indians tonight at 7.  Sale will be on the mound.  Let’s hope the offense can hit as well as they did last night and Sale is himself and pitches great.
