Christian Vasquez walks it off against the Cleveland Indians helping the Sox re-gain first place in their division

Last night’s game was outstanding.  The game had a ton of lead changes. It had to be the best Sox game of the year.

The game sure didn’t start off well with Chris Sale giving up 3 runs right off the get-go, then giving up 2 the next inning.  With the Sox down 5-0, I thought the game was already over.  The Red Sox got the bats going in the 2nd inning scoring 5 runs and tying the game.

Let me just say that Eduardo Nunez is on fire.  I was totally wrong about him.  Maybe he was the answer to the lack of power in the Sox lineup.  He is becoming one of the best hitters on the team.

Addison Reed also made his Red Sox debut in the 8th inning of last nights game.  Let’s just say it could have gone better.  I am hoping that he pitches better than what he did last night.

With the Red Sox down 10-9 going into the bottom of the 9th, it didn’t look like we were going to pull out the victory.  But, after a Devers walk and Moreland reaching base on a drop third strike, we had some hope.  I wasn’t expecting Vasquez to get ahold of the ball.  I was just hoping he could make contact.  After a passed ball, Devers and Moreland both advanced. With 2 runners in scoring position, the Sox fans were on their feet.  Then, Vasquez hits a bomb dead center to win the game.  Fenway erupted.  I got goosebumps just by watching it on TV.

After last night’s win, the Red Sox are in first place in the AL East.  If they can keep playing like they have been, I think they will go on to win a lot of games.  They are finally playing like they are capable of and I’m loving it.
