Doug Fister has proven himself as a reliable pitcher in the Red Sox pitching rotation

This weekend was rough for the Red Sox.  They lost every game they played.  I don’t know if it was all the Players Weekend stuff or what, but the Red Sox didn’t play well at all over the weekend.

Doug Fister went a strong seven innings in yesterday’s loss against the Orioles. Fister pitched great, but the Sox bats couldn’t provide him with the run support that he needed. He only allowed 5 hits and 2 runs.  He fanned 7 batters yesterday and walked 2.

After his first few starts with the Sox, I would have never thought he would be where he is today.  Fister was the reason the Red Sox were so close in the game yesterday.  He sure has stepped up since Price went down in July.  The way he has been  performing lately, he is one of the best players that the Sox have.

Fister has gained my trust in the last five starts of his.  I think he should be #3 in our pitching rotation in the playoffs.  He has just completely turned his season around and I think he will continue to improve throughout September.  Hopefully, he will be even better come playoff time in October.

Let’s hope the Sox can snap the losing streak tonight as they open up a new series in Toronto.  Pomeranz is on the mound and they are out of Players Weekend.  Hopefully, that will be enough for the Sox to win tonight.
