The Curious Case of Bryce Brentz

The Triple-A season has come to a close, and the Red Sox are in the middle of a pennant race. In recent Red Sox struggles there has been questions as to whether, or not, they need another bat. They clearly do. Lately, they can’t seem get a hit with RISP and they are desperately missing David Ortiz.

Both John Farrell and Dave Dombrowski have said they aren’t calling up anybody right now and I say, why not call up Bryce Bentz?

Brentz finished the season in Triple A with 31 homers and won the AAA home run derby. Now with the cheating scandal going on, management could use all the help they can get.

The Red Sox young guys have helped with Eduardo Nunez, and Rafael Devers. However they can’t be good all the time and sometimes will slump. Mookie Betts is batting .259, Hanley Ramirez is batting .242, Jackie Bradley Jr. is batting .262.

Bryce Brentz could make an immediate impact on this lineup.

The lead in the division is only 2.5 games now so they need all the help they can get at this point. If Brentz can show he can play at the Major League level then keep him up here, but it is clear that they need another bat.

Obviously he is not on the 40 man roster at this point, so a retroactive move is necessary, but Dombrowski should consider moving on from a player like Henry Owens in favor of Brentz.
