When the Red Sox take the field on Friday in Cincinnati, it will be a homecoming for Andrew Benintendi, who grew up about twenty minutes from Great American Ballpark.  Benintendi graduated from Madeira High School.  Benintendi hit .564 as a high school senior with 57 RBIs, 63 runs, and 38 steals, leading the Reds to draft him in the 31st round of the 2013 Draft.

However, rather than signing he chose to go to the University of Arkansas. While at Arkansas he was the national player of the year as a draft-eligible sophomore and signed with the Red Sox after being taken seventh overall in 2015, draft and making his debut in August the following season.

Since joining the Red Sox, he has become a beloved fixture in left field. While garnering national attention, a homecoming for the young budding star will be very cool to experience.

Make sure to keep your eyes on Benintendi as he plays only a few minutes from where it all started.
