Toronto Blue Jays VS. Boston Red Sox Preview

The Boston Redsox have 91 wins and the magic number is three to clinch the AL East. The Red Sox swept the Cincinnati Reds this past weekend and head to the last week of the season on top. The Red Sox play a three game series against the Toronto Blue Jays starting tonight then a four game series against the Houston Astros  to close out the season beginning Thursday.

The pitching matchups for the series is Drew Pomernaz going against Brett Anderson, Tuesday ace pitcher Chris Sale goes against J.A. Hap, Wednesday Rick Porcello goes against Marco Estrada.  Drew Pomeranz is having great year as he has a 16-5 record with a 3.15 ERA and has 171 strikeouts this season. Pomeranz in his last three starts is 2-0 with a 1.47 ERA and 17 strikeouts. For the Blue Jays Brett Anderson he’s 3-4 with a 7.15 ERA and 32 strikeouts. In his last three starts Anderson is 1-1 with a 9.26 ERA and 10 strikeouts.

Ace Chris Sale goes Tuesday night who’s 17-7 with a 2.75 ERA and 300 strikeouts. In his last three starts he’s 2-0 with a 1.83 ERA and 30 strikeouts. J.A. Happ is 9-11 with a 3.64 ERA and 133 strikeouts. In his last three starts he’s 2-1 with a 2.37 ERA and 20 strikeouts. Wednesday Rick Porcello who’s having a rough season with a 10-17 record. With a 4.55 ERA and 173 strikeouts. His last three starts he’s 1-1 with a 3.31 ERA and 10 strikeouts. Marco Estrada is 10-8 with a 4.70 ERA and 174 strikeouts. In his last three starts he’s 3-0 with a 2.25 ERA and 15 strikeouts. The Red Sox should take care of business against the Blue Jays and the rest of the week to clinch the division  and get ready for the playoffs.
