After missing the last 10 games Nunez returned hitting a double in his first at-bat though he was obviously cautious while running the bases.  When he came up for his second at-bat he was in the middle of a tough at-bat when he fouled a pitch off and went down on a knee obviously in pain.

Farrell, the trainer both came out and tried to talk into leaving the game with them.  Nunez told Farrell and the trainer that he was “okay” to finish the at-bat. He wasn’t he lined out to third and was seen limping down the dugout steps towards to clubhouse.

Nunez has been a vital piece for the Red Sox since coming over from San Francisco. His electrifying style of play has captivated Sox fans everywhere. His absence is undeniable, as he would allow for Pedroia to get routine days off.

The immediate need is for the training staff to get him ready for postseason play. Whether he needs to DH, or get time in the field, the Red Sox need to explore every avenue to get their utility player healthy for postseason play.

Later in the game, after blooping a single into right, Mookie Betts was seen holding his left wrist, again in pain. He tried to stay in the game but when his next time at bat rolled around, it was Benintendi that stepped to the plate.

Mookie’s injury appears to be more of a day-to-day issue; however, it remains concerning. He has been dinged up lately, so some rest may be imperative for the All star outfielder. While it appears Mookie has been turning the corner at the plate, his health must allow for future growth.

Getting Nunez and Betts healthy with six games left before the start of the playoffs is VITAL for this team to make a strong run in October.
