4/15 Pitchers vs Hitters Matchups: Wintry Sale Day

Your Boston Red Sox are now sitting at 12-2…. This is the first time ever in the team’s 118 year old existence that they have had this record through 14 games. As different players sort through injuries, the offense and pitching have looked like world beaters. Even Alex Cobb yesterday, who has had success against Sox and especially in Fenway, was sent to the showers a lot sooner than he expected.

Weather permitting, Sale is looking to continue on his solid start to the season. Through 3 starts he has allowed a grand total of 2 earned runs in 17 innings of work. In that span walking just 3 batters, while striking out 23. So fascinating is that in just his 2nd year with the team, he is just 92 strikeouts away from entering the top 50 in team history for that category.

Righty Dylan Bundy opposes him, and has had his own solid start to the season. Through 3 starts he has allowed 3 ER in 20 innings of work. In that span walking 5 batters, while striking out 25. This year might be the year the Orioles hope he puts it all together.
