4/17 Pitchers vs Hitters Matchups: First West Coast Road Trip

With the game rained out yesterday, it was a very odd Marathon Monday for a Sox game to not have taken place. But still can have as its benefits as the Sox team boarded their flight to California, while not having just played a game. The Sox are flying high at 13-2, currently No. 1 in ESPN’s power rankings. Tonight should be a marquee pitching matchup in Anaheim.

Price is looking to rebound from a 1 inning start his last time out, due to numbness in his fingers. He said immediately after that everything is fine. His two starts prior he did have 14 shutout innings.

Shohei Ohtani makes his first career start vs the Red Sox. His apparent need for silence notwithstanding, Ohtani has been one of baseball’s highlights this season. Through 2 starts he is 2-0 with a 2.08 ERA, 3 ER in 13 innings. He has walked just two while striking out 18 batters. Batting wise he has been a force, thus far going 11 for 30 (.367 avg) Double, Triple, 3 HRs, 11 RBIs.
