4/19 Pitchers vs Hitters Matchups – Game 3 in Anaheim

Right now on April 19th, it just feels like I came in possession of a bottle with a genie inside. One of my 3 wishes was to have the Red Sox play as if it was a video game. The Sox are just the second team since 2003 to start 15-2 in the first 17 games. Unreal is the word I’m looking for.

First in the majors in win% (.882, 15-2). First in run differential (+60). First in avg of runs per game (6.35). Second in ERA (2.66). Second in fielding % (.994). Just a few eyepopping stats to throw out there.

Tonight they look to finish off a 3 game sweep of the Angels in Anaheim, and leave town with a 16-2 record. Eduardo Rodriguez is starting for the Sox, building off his solid second start of the season. He allowed just one run in 6 innings versus the Orioles, while striking out 8 batters. Surprisingly enough, Rodriguez will be making his 68th start in the majors, yet just the 2nd overall against the Angels.

Nick Tropeano takes the ball for the Angels. This right hander has appeared in bits and parts over the past 5 seasons with the Astros & Angels. Last year, he pitched to a tune of a 3.56 ERA in 13 starts… But, music to Sox batters’ ears, he allowed 14 HRs in just 68.1 innings. Tropeano is coming off a 6.2 inning shutout performance versus the Royals, so Angel fans heading to Angel Stadium will be hoping for anything close to that.
