4/20 Pitchers vs Hitters Matchups – Return of Pomeranz

ss1

The high flying 16-2 Red Sox venture off to Oakland to start a 3 game series. As the series with Anaheim started, they were fairly matched up (Sox 13-2, Angels 13-3) and top offenses…. In the 3 game sweep, the Angels quickly became 13-6 and was outscored 27-3. Angels fans’ lone joy was in the 3rd game, where former Sox Chris Young hit a HR off of a lefty (rare occurrence in 2017), to then make it a 1 run game.

Drew Pomeranz makes his return to the Sox, where they are more than happy to add on to their already staunch pitching staff. Boston holds the 2nd best ERA (2.45) in the majors, right behind Houston. Tied for 3rd least amount of hits allowed. 6th overall in the majors for Ks. The Yankees have a staff ERA of practically 2 more runs, but rank 3rd. So strikeouts aren’t everything kids.

Kendall Graveman starts for the A’s in tonight’s game. His last name is just plain irony when you see his 9.87 ERA in 4 starts!! The longest he has lasted was his first 2 starts, going 5 innings.

17.1 innings, 28 Hits, 19 Runs, 6 HRs, 7 Walks, 10 Ks
