Sale Day!!!

The Sox are just the 7th team to start their season off in such fashion, having a ridiculous record of 17-2 in their first 19 games. Since 1900, they have the 5th best run differential at +70. Right above them are the 03 Yankees at +74. This is the first time since 1978, that there has been multiple win streaks of 8+ games in a regular season… It won’t be May for another week.

Also of note — The 2018 Boston Red Sox are first team in MLB history to hit 5 grand slams in their first 19 games.

Chris Sale is on the mound as he carries on his solid start to the season. Sale’s 1.23 ERA ranks 4th in the AL. Only blemish is the innings, 22 through 4 starts. But still that can only help him, to deter another late inning slide from happening. Certainly has the strikeout going, 31 punched out in 22 innings. While lefties are hitting him at .308 clip, right handed batters have been silenced (.179).

Sean Manaea takes the ball for Oakland, and should be a test for this red hot offense. He has a 1.63 ERA through 4 starts, and has been difficult to hit off from both sides of the plate — Lefties hitting .167, righties hitting .169. Manaea hasn’t fared well vs Boston in first 3 starts. 11.1 innings, 26 Hits, 18 Runs (17 ER), 4 HRs, 0 Walks, 8 Ks
