The quote – “That’s baseball for ya”, is a good way to sum up yesterday’s game where the #1 team in baseball and top scoring team was no-hit. Oakland’s Sean Manaea was having a solid season, and both lefties & righties were having a hard time getting anything in the hit column. He pitched a hell of a game, and great to see that a good percentage of Sox fans are tipping their caps to him. This was the first time in 25 years that the Red Sox have been no-hit.

The Sox still remain 17-3, tops in average, tops in ops, tops in runs, tops in doubles… They’ll be just fine, it’s a blip along the way.

David Price is on the mound as he holds a 2.25 ERA through 4 starts, with an opposing batting avg of just .183. He has allowed only 1 HR through 20 innings, but need to work on lessening walks (9 in last 3 starts).

Daniel Mengden takes the ball for Oakland. While his most recent start was a solid one, 8 innings 1 run ball vs the White Sox…. Mengden’s first 3 starts vs the Angels, Rangers, Dodgers resulted in — 16 innings, 19 Hits, 14 Runs (11 ER). The one thing he has got going for him is just 3 walks total in 24 innings. With Cora giving number of players day off today, let’s hope for the Sox offense to rebound.
