5/2 Pitcher / Hitter Matchups – Game 3 vs Kansas City

Drew Pomeranz is looking for an answer. Chris Sale is in the same rut that he was in last year – the bullpen failing on him or no offense, resulting in no wins (why win-loss record can be overrated, which was the case last night). Kimbrel blew the save, and the offense saved their bats for after Sale exited. The bats valiantly tried to claw back, but the 3 run home run given up by Brian Johnson was just too much.

Drew Pomeranz through his first 2 starts is showing rust from really having no spring training whatsoever. I understand the frustration that some fans might be having, but in 2017, this guy went 17-6 with a sparkling ERA of 3.32. Goosfraba everyone, he will bounce back…. especially with this being his contract year. The biggest chance for a brinks truck, is latched on to what he does in 2018.

Danny Duffy takes the ball for Kansas City. Duffy is not having the start to the season that he was probably hoping for, sitting at 0-3 with a 5.40 ERA. Three of those 6 starts, he has given up 4 ER or more. Already he has served up 5 HRs in 31.2 innings, which is easily outpacing last season of only 13 allowed in 146.1 innings of work. Duffy has not ever had success vs the Sox thus far in his career, and Fenway Park as been a house of horrors. let’s hope it continues today!!
