5/5 Pitchers vs Hitters Matchups – Game 3 in Arlington

The Boston Red Sox, since their red hot start to the season at 17-2, have gone a pedestrian 6-7 since then. Unfortunately for them, the Oakland no hitter is the same time the Yankees shifted into full gear… A ridiculous 13-1 in their last 14 games. The Sox – Yankees series this coming week is going to be must see.

Through the recent ugly stretch, there has been utmost positives like early MVP favorite Mookie unwilling to slow it down.

AL Rankings — He ranks 1st in HRs, batting avg, SLG, OPS and 2nd in OBP & Doubles. Here’s a remarkable stat: In 104 ABs, he has struck out only 13 times. Opposing pitchers just can’t figure out how to pitch against him. At one point, will we see managers just opt to intentionally walk him?

Eduardo Rodriguez is on the mound for the Sox. Imagine if Chris Sale had the run support that Rodriguez has been getting? Eduardo is 3-0 but with a 4.78 ERA. His run support through 5 starts is at 7.4!!! Chris Sale’s run support is 5.14, but that is heavily skewed because one start the Sox bats burst out to a 14 run contest.

Cole Hamels takes the ball for Texas. In the past 5 seasons before, 2018, he allowed more than 20 HRs just once. This year is looking like will be 20+ easily, as he has allowed 8 HRs in just 39.2 innings of work. His WHIP is also abnormally high, 1.39 thus far. Only 3 times in his career since debuting in 2006, has his WHIP been 1.25 or higher.

Eduardo Rodriguez — Career vs Texas Rangers in 1 start, 1-0 with an 0.00 ERA. That 1 start was just stellar- 7.2 shutout innings, 3 Hits, 2 Walks, 7 Ks. And that 1 start did take place in Globe Life Park.
