DAVID PRICE VS LUIS SEVERINO

After last night, Sale has a career ERA of 1.61 against NY in 17 games (14 starts). Across 100.2 innings, he has struck out 130 batters and only allowing 9 HRs in that long stretch. In the opposing dugout, Sonny Gray’s ghastly career ERA at Yankee Stadium is up at 6.78. Last time a Yankees starter has had it that bad at home was Carl Pavano (6.12 in 13 starts).

David Price takes the mound for the Red Sox, in one of his most important starts in a Red Sox uniform. The Red Sox could make a serious and bold statement tonight, by Price pitching the Red Sox past the Yankees to leave the Bronx with a 2 game lead.  What teammates Porcello and Eduardo failed to do, Price will look to become the team’s first 10 game winner of 2018. Since May 12, he has had 9 consecutive quality starts in a row, winning 7 of them. Luckily for Price, Gary Sanchez is on the disabled list where he can’t hurt him tonight.

6 for 12 (.500 avg) 5 HRs, 11 RBIs, 2 Walks, 2 Ks

Luis Severino takes the ball for the Yankees. The 12-2 pitcher with a 2.10 ERA, will strive to build on his Cy Young campaign with yet another quality start. Severino has made 17 starts this season, 16 of them have all been quality starts. The one bad start of the yr, came courtesy of the Boston Red Sox. On April 10, he labored for five innings in Fenway giving up 5 runs. On May 8 in Yankees Stadium was a different story, giving up 2 runs in 6 innings and striking out 11 Sox batters.

David Price — Career vs New York Yankees in 39 games (38 starts), 15-12 with a 4.67 ERA. Career at Yankee Stadium in 19 starts, 8-6 with a 4.27 ERA.
