7/13 Pitchers vs Hitters Matchups – Game 2 vs Toronto

The hottest team in baseball takes the field tonight, in game 2 of their 4 game series with the Blue Jays. For active streaks, the Sox are the ONLY team to have a winning streak longer than 2 games. After last night’s thrilling win that featured an echuberant Mookie Betts grand slam, the Sox have the best batting average in baseball of .272. Their 512 Runs also lead baseball. The Astros are in 2nd, but a sizable gap as they currently have 485 Runs scored.

Alex Cora will have to doll out some new lineups the next several days. Aside from losing Devers to the DL, Andrew Benintendi is sadly going on the bereavement list. Sam Travis is taking his place on the roster. Beni will be back after the All Star Break, when the Sox are in Detroit for a 3 game series.

Rick Porcello takes the mound for the Sox, going for his team leading 12th Win of the season. That would tie him for 2nd in MLB with Scherzer, Blake Snell, Aaron Nola and Corey Kluber. Porcello’s recent start against the Royals was the fourth time this season he has struck out 9 batters (season high). He has had 2 starts vs the Blue Jays this year, getting 1 win but solid in both of them.

(3.40 ERA) — 13.2 innings, 8 Hits, 6 Runs (5 ER), 1 HR, 5 Walks, 14 Ks

Ryan Borucki takes the ball for the Blue Jays, making his 4th career start. Thus far the 24 year old left hander has been pretty much stellar for the Toronto Blue Jays. Not much for their fans to look forward to this yr, but this kid is looking like a bright spot.
