Report: Red Sox could be a possible landing spot for reliever Brad Ziegler

Fancred.com‘s Jon Heyman reports that the Miami Marlins will likely trade reliever Brad Ziegler by the trade deadline.  The two possible landing spots that Heyman reported were the Cubs and the Red Sox.  The Indians and Astros could also be in the mix.

Ziegler has been great this season.  In the last 29 innings, the righty has given up just three runs on 15 hits and has 22 strikeouts.  The reliever’s ground-ball rate is also really good (81% in 29 innings).

The Red Sox are pretty familiar with Brad Ziegler.  Two years ago, the Red Sox acquired Ziegler from the Diamondbacks just before the trade deadline. That season, Ziegler posted a 1.52 ERA in 29.2 innings with 31 strikeouts for the ballclub.

Whatever team that Ziegler gets shipped to, he is going to help that team out.  I would like to see Ziegler back in a Red Sox uniform.  He really could add some depth to the Red Sox bullpen.  Hopefully Dave Dombrowski can strike a deal with the Marlins that puts Ziegler back in a Red Sox uniform.
