Red Sox, Steven Wright avoid arbitration

According to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale, the Red Sox have avoided arbitration with Steven Wright agreeing to a contract worth $1.375 million.

The Red Sox have agreed to terms with three of their pitchers to avoid arbitration (Thornburg, Hembree, Wright).

With the deadline to negotiate with arbitration-eligible players being later today at 1 p.m, you’ll see more news about these players over the next few hours.

The team now has nine players that are eligible for arbitration. Those players being Sandy Leon, Brock Holt, Mookie Betts, Jackie Bradley Jr., Xander Bogaerts, Eduardo Rodriguez, Matt Barnes, Blake Swihart and Brandon Workman. If the team can’t come to terms with the players, they will go on to an arbitration hearing in February.
