It’s early, but one Red Sox pitcher is already turning heads.

With pitchers and catchers starting to report to Ft. Myers for Spring Training, we will be getting several updates concerning different players. Alex Cora’s first statement about Spring Training was an encouraging update on Eduardo Rodriguez. Rodriguez battled back from a mid-season injury in 2018 and is ready to bounce back this season.

According to MLB.com’s Ian Browne, Cora said that E-Rod was in the best shape of his life heading into Spring Training. Here is the exact quote:

“Eddie looks great, physically. Everybody is in the best shape of their life when they come to Spring Training, but he’s actually in the best shape of his life. For the first time in a while, he was able to have a normal offseason, and you can see it in his body.”

If you didn’t check out Cody’s latest piece (here’s the link), he highlights Rodriguez as a possible candidate set for a big season. Cody mentions that Rodriguez could have completed a huge season last year, but that injury set him back quite a bit.

Rodriguez being in the best shape of his life is the first step in Rodriguez having a breakout season. Here’s to hoping that Rodriguez has a big spring and takes another big step towards having a big year.
