Craig Kimbrel is ‘extremely unlikely’ to re-sign with Red Sox

Today, Tom Werner was asked about Craig Kimbrel returning to the Red Sox. Werner pretty much shut down the possibility of Kimbrel coming back.

“I think it’s extremely unlikely.”

Tom Werner, Red Sox chairman, on possibility of Kimbrel returning to the team

If you haven’t listened to the latest podcast — Cody, Ben, and I discussed the possibility of Kimbrel coming back to the Red Sox. We all thought there was a possibility. But now it seems like the team is out and will try to find someone from within to fill the closer role.

However, you can’t rule the team out until Kimbrel makes his decision. Anything can happen, but at this point, I don’t see Kimbrel returning.
