The Red Sox shortstop certainly got a hold of this ball against a division rival.
As the Red Sox continue to move deeper into Spring Training, the regular starters are beginning to see more playing time. It certainly is an understatement to say that Xander Bogaerts made the most of his time at Jet Blue today with a tape measure shot over the Green Monster replica.
Bogaerts has been a topic of conversation throughout the majority of the offseason due to his impending free agency. He has mentioned that he’d be open to staying in Boston, but certainly won’t let that influence his current situation on the playing field.
The Red Sox shortstop has the opportunity to emerge among the elite at his position this season. He’ll be tasked to protect J.D. Martinez in the lineup – and producing power like this – will provide the necessary protection that the Sox require.
He’s a fantastic shortstop and we’ll look for Bogaerts to take the next step in his development in hopes that he’ll remain in a Sox uniform for a long time.
