Steve Pearce set to start the season on the injured list

The World Series MVP will start the season off on the injured list.

Late last night, Alex Cora announced that Steve Pearce would not be on the Red Sox roster to start the season. Pearce has dealt with a lower leg injury most of spring training, so I didn’t expect him to be ready for Opening Day.

Sam Travis will be taking Pearce’s place while the World Series MVP is on the injured list. I have been a fan of Sam Travis since his college days, so I’m ready to see him get at-bats. With that being said, I hope that Pearce returns soon, but there’s also no reason to rush him back.
