The nightmare road trip is finally in the rear view mirror. The 3-8 Red Sox are back where they belong in the “Cathedral of Boston”. It’s time to get back to their winning ways. Have to seriously think that the offense is going to have a renaissance, now that they are in their friendly confines. From today through May 1, the Sox play 16 games in a stretch of 21 days.

Pregame ceremonies including raising of the banner, WS rings, and Patriots players including newly retired Gronk and Stephon Gilmore expected to attend. A day of festivities that will hopefully end with a Red Sox victory.

Chris Sale takes the mound in his third start of the 2019 season. Last one was a solid outing as he allowed just one run in six innings against the A’s. While his fastball ranged in the low 88-92 mph range, he still did his job effectively. Unfortunately for Sale, the Sox bats were cold that day and they lost 1-0. This afternoon all eyes will be on the radar gun, to see how fast he throws. Quite a head turner that Sale has thrown fifty fastballs this season, and hasn’t had a single swing & miss on them.

Matt Shoemaker, the former Angel, takes the ball in his third start in a Blue Jays uniform. Shoemaker has been ravaged by injuries, as he only made 21 starts in the 2017-18 seasons. Turning 32 in September, his career high in innings is just 160. So far for the 2019 season, he has hit the ground running.
