It’s about to get real exciting with the addition of the power hitting rookie.
It’s Michael Chavis time in Boston. It was announced Friday morning that the Red Sox would be adding the top organizational prospect to the active roster.
The young slugger made a name for himself throughout Spring Training, while launching multiple blasts. He was a quick cut from the roster in the spring, but due to the lack of active roster depth, the young star will get a shot on the Major League roster.
If nothing else, the Boston Red Sox are hoping that this promotion will jump start a team that has done nothing but limp out of the gates. It will be interesting to see where he ends up playing, as Manager Alex Cora was recently quoted saying “he needs more work” defensively at second base. However, the bat is Major League ready and may get a shot to fill in at designated hitter.
It’s likely that Tzu-Wei Lin will get the first shot to start, but we’ll find out when lineups are released. While early season struggles have been in abundance, the promotion of Michael Chavis should add some excitement for Red Sox fans.
