After a rain soaked miserable Monday, the Sox kick off their first Double-Header of the 2019 season. They’re currently riding high with a three game winning streak, all three wins coming respectively from a sweep in Tropicana Field. Now they have a ten game homestand to brew up home cooking, and a showcase to MLB that their talent outweighs their early season struggles.

Chris Sale takes the mound, continuing to search for a turn around. His last start saw him at times touching 97 mph. But the control was off and he allowed 4 ER in five innings at Yankee Stadium. It’s just so weird to see his first four starts having a record of 0-4 with an 8.50 ERA. That ERA includes his six inning one run start in Oakland. Aside from Miguel Cabrera, Sale has had success when facing the Tigers lineup.

Matthew Boyd takes the ball for the Tigers. A head turner early on this season is Boyd’s ERA of 2.96 and has struck out 36 batters in 24 innings. This being the pitcher who currently has a 4.96 career ERA and having 430 career Ks in 484.1 innings. Against the Yankees and Indians, he gave up a combined 2 ER in 12.1 innings. Will he continue to be a stingy pitcher that he has been thus far? Or will the Sox lineup remind him that he’s a Career 5 ERA pitcher?
