5/19 Pitchers Vs Hitters Matchups: Start of 7 Game Road Trip

Xander Bogaerts led the way with two clutch hits, and Walden continued to be force out of the pen to help the Sox avoid a sweep by the Astros. Walden meanwhile leads the Sox with 6 Wins…. currently tied with eight other pitchers for 3rd in MLB for the Win category. Look for his usage to continue to go up.

David Price takes the mound in his anticipated return for the rotation. This naturally does wonders for the Sox rotation AND bullpen, as Cora has had to finagle bullpen games. Price returns to a 3.75 ERA across six starts, and has gone four straight starts of not allowing more than 3 ER.

The much traveled Edwin Jackson takes the start for the Blue Jays. This is his 15th MLB uniform that he is donning, a major league record. It should be no surprise when he wears another team’s cap & jersey. Making his second start for Toronto, Jackson is coming off of a loss where he gave up 3 Runs (2 ER) in 5 innings of work. While it’s easy to remember the bad moments he has had… this guy can surprise you. Last year in 17 starts with Oakland, he held a 3.33 ERA.
