5/25 Pitchers Vs Hitters Matchups: Regroup After Sloppy Loss

Last night’s loss to the Astros was nothing but sloppy. Even more disheartening that the Sox still had every chance to win it. Sale was plagued with three errors behind him. Two of the four runs happened with an error taking place. The only black mark against him was the Marisnick homerun in the 2nd inning. The ugly 2019 offense showed up again. Including Astros’ three errors, the Sox had 13 baserunners… scoring just three runs. And all three runs were courtesy of the solo HR variety.

David Price takes the mound for the Red Sox. In his first start back from the IL and on a limited pitch count, he looked good over five innings as he gave up two unearned runs. His season ERA now stands at a solid 3.29 mark. He’ll look to continue lowering it as he faces an Astros lineup that is now without George Spinger. The team placed Springer on the IL, replacing him with Derek Fisher.

Brad Peacock takes the ball for the Astros. On the season across 10 games (8 starts), Peacock is 5-2 with a 3.59 ERA. He has .205 opp batting along with a 1.05 WHIP. There has been only two bad starts to speak of for Peacock, a five run outing vs the A’s and the HR happy Twins that got him to for 7 ER in 3.2 innings. Today’s lineup naturally can’t be like last night’s. Especially against a pitcher that has allowed only four homeruns in 47.2 innings. Expect Devers, Moreland and Vazquez to be back in starting lineup.
