The Red Sox have reportedly made a move, signing utility player Chris Owings. Owings was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks back in 2013 and played six seasons there.
The 27-year old started the 2019 season off with the Kansas City Royals before being released. Owings appeared in 40 games slashing .133 / .193 / .222. He has played shortstop, second base, and outfield.
The newly signed Owings will report to Fort Myers for extended spring training before he heads to Pawtucket to start playing. Owings can provide depth to this Red Sox team with all the injuries the roster is currently dealing with.
