Last night’s win, was emphatically needed for the Sox. They were reeling from losing the last two to the rebuilding Jays, and then found themselves in a back n forth affair with the White Sox. When Benitendi doubled with no outs, it was “here we go again” when he was still standing on 2nd base with two outs. But then suddenly, two straight intentional walks were issued. The second one being to JBJ. Marco Hernandez stepped up and his wheels led them to a win, as he beat the throw at 1st base.

***On paper, this should be a no doubter win for the BoSox.

David Price takes the mound for the Red Sox, looking for a more complete outing. His last time out was against the Twins, where he gave up one run in five innings and exited after just 73 pitches thrown. That game was the 17 inning affair, that the Sox ended up losing. His last two starts combined (Rangers, Twins), has seen him throw just 122 pitches. Tonight should see a regular workload for pitch count.

Carson Fulmer takes the ball for the White Sox. All in all, this should be a pitcher that has the Sox batters racing to get their bats. His season ERA in nine relief appearances is 6.35…. and his career ERA in 33 games (13 starts) stands at 6.64. Fulmer has walked 55 batters in 78.2 career innings, amounting to a 1.67 WHIP. He has been bad, is what I’m getting at.

Fulmer’s last major league outing of pitching more than four innings was back on April 28th of last year. That was by far his best game ever, a seven shutout inning Win vs the Royals.
