The Sox after winning their shortest game ever (12 minute Thursday afternoon), they embark on their last West Coast road trip of 2019. In San Diego greeting them is old buddy Don Orsillo & old nemesis Manny Machado. Naturally the last time we saw Machado facing the Sox, he was the last out of the 2018 World Series.

Even with the Sox winning six out of their last eight games… they still remain 7.0 games back of the 2nd Wild Card. Those two games against the Phillies where they had every reason to win AND gain ground, really stung their chances.

Eduardo Rodriguez takes the mound for the Red Sox. With just over a month left of the regular season, Eduardo looks to add on to his best season ever. He already has gotten his career high 14th W (7.1 shutout vs Orioles), and is aiming to keep adding them up before he packs up his locker at season’s end.

Rookie starting pitcher Chris Paddack takes the ball for the Friars. The 23 year old righty has had a solid start in the bigs thus far, posting a 3.44 ERA and 0.98 WHIP. Pitching in Petco as his home park has helped him out some — 2.53 ERA at home, 4.23 ERA on the road. However this month has been the rockiest month that he has had to endure in the majors. Will the Sox bats capitalize on his struggling month?
