The Sox survived another day last night, winning 6-2 as Rodriguez collected his 17th Win of the season. He is tied with Justin Verlander & Domingo German for the MOST Wins in baseball. And the notion of the twenty win mark, is becoming more of a possibility. The Indians have lost today, so the Sox are guaranteed to be 4.5 games behind them if pull off the series win tonight.

A win tonight is even more crucial, as word has broken out that David Price has been scratched from his Yankees start….. Friday and Saturday, will be back to back bullpen games against the Yankees lineup.

Looking to build off of his last start, Nathan Eovaldi takes the mound for the Red Sox. Last Friday, Eovaldi had his best pitching performance since, April 17th six innings, 1 run vs NY. Pitching against the Angels, Eovaldi limited them to one run over four innings. he walked just one while striking out a season eight batters. With his ERA sitting at 6.23, he will aim to drop it below the 6.00 mark, for just the second time this season.

Martin Perez takes the ball for the Twins. Starting his 25th start of the season, Perez is hoping for better results against a tough matchup in the Sox offense. Back on May 23rd, Perez’s ERA was at a solid 2.95 mark. It hasn’t been coming up roses since then, more like fertilizer. June to August, each month his ERA rose. The ERA’s for the last three months are 5.08, 5.32 and 6.75 in six August starts. His last start was facing the hapless Tigers offense, he got roughed up  for 8 Runs (7 ER) in 2.2 innings.
