According to reports, the Red Sox have hired Chaim Bloom to replace Dave Dombrowski and become the head of Baseball Operations. Bloom is a guy that I mentioned in my candidates for the job earlier this week.

I like this move for the Red Sox. Bloom has been considered for GM jobs over the past couple seasons and has been in the game for awhile. He’s been with the Rays for 15 seasons and has been heavily involved in moves that led to this successful Rays team.

Unlike most GMs, Bloom will come in and be faced with several difficult tasks right away. It’s definitely going to be interesting to see how the first-year GM Bloom manages this. However, I do think Bloom is the man for the job. I’ve read nothing but good things about Bloom. I’m ready for this new era for the Red Sox.
