The Red Sox have just announced the team has brought back Mitch Moreland on a one-year deal. Ken Rosenthal reports that Moreland’s contract has the first baseman being paid $2.5 million in 2020 with a $3 million club option or a $500,000 buyout for the 2021 season attached.
This move provides the Red Sox with depth at first base and will give Bobby Dalbec some time to ease into the bigs. Moreland is a good bat to have in the lineup if he can stay healthy. This could be the team’s last move before spring training, but with the Mookie Betts trade rumors swirling, I wouldn’t bet on it.
